The service
Matte is a browser-based image tool operated by Matte. The free tier is available without an account. Paid tiers unlock additional features through a licence key delivered by email after purchase.
Your work is yours
You keep every right to the screenshots you bring and the images you export, and you may use them commercially without restriction or attribution. We claim no licence over them — we never receive them in the first place.
What it costs
Nothing. Matte is free to use in full, with no account and no payment. Paid plans may be introduced later; if that happens, it will apply to new features rather than to what already works today.
Fair use
Do not use Matte to produce images that impersonate a real person or company, that fabricate a product or record that does not exist, or that break the law where you are. We may end a licence that is used this way.
Warranty and liability
The service is provided as is. Because the software runs on your device and holds none of your files, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before it arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms are governed by the law of Germany.
